Our Vision
Effectively delivering quality services to our members.
Founded in 2006 and registered under the Labour Unions Act of Uganda (Reg. No. LU36), the Uganda Scientists, Researchers and Allied Workers' Union (USRAWU) is the leading voice for scientific workers across the nation. We were gazetted as a Public Service Union on November 22, 2011, and operate with a recognition agreement from the Ministry of Public Service.
USRAWU was established to address a critical gap: scientists, researchers, and laboratory workers were often isolated by the very nature of their demanding work. Long hours in laboratories and research fields meant that many professionals had little time to focus on their own welfare, rights, or career advancement.
Recognizing this challenge, a group of founding members came together in 2006 to create a union specifically for Uganda's scientific workforce. Their vision was simple but powerful: no worker deserves to be exploited, underemployed, or mistreated.
Since then, USRAWU has grown to serve over 1,200 members across 10 branches nationwide, representing scientists and researchers in both public and private sectors.
